Payment QR code (EPC / GiroCode)

The European Payments Council QR format (often called GiroCode) lets a customer pay an invoice by scanning it in their banking app. The IBAN, payee, amount and reference arrive pre-filled, which removes typos and speeds up payment.

For example the invoice number. Everything stays in your browser.

Add the payee name and IBAN.

How to set it up

  1. 1

Enter the payee name and IBAN. Kizmo checks the IBAN checksum as you type.

  2. 2

Add the amount in euros and the invoice number as the reference.

  3. 3

Place the code on your invoice PDF, near the total.

Recommended size

At least 25 mm on printed invoices.

What works

  • Many banking apps across the eurozone, especially in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Finland, read EPC codes. Always keep the IBAN printed in text as well.
  • The format carries euros only.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Putting a payment code anywhere the public can reach it unattended. Payment codes are prime targets for sticker fraud.
